Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars By Kai Cheng Thom
Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars
This book is fucking good. I’m in love. Kai Cheng Thom's memoirs of her life as a liar, trans woman, and all out rebel. Reading this you’re enthralled by her and the life she lives, or says she lives (she is a notorious liar after all). The writing is risky and dangerous yet does not lose any of it’s soft warm sentiments. Thom craft fully warps your perception through her amazing dictation intensifying the connection to the reader. There’s a strong essence and resonation throughout the book, even if you can’t relate to her experiences she so beautifully writes that you connect to her being. The writing is transcendent without being pretentious, it’s a very easy read yet brimmed with symbolism. Thom an intersectional asian woman reclaims the trans voice from the easily digestible formulated character of cis-production on a identity that has been lately hugely publicized but hi-jacked of narrative. Thom is an a, who describes constructing herself with help of her community, into a powerful beautiful being. This book is underrated, and hard to find (they don’t sell it at indigo or amazon) but so very much worth it. This book from cover to cover is beautiful, and when i say cover I mean cover, the artwork is gorgeous even as a coffee table book it stands out. This book is what people should be reading right now.
